What is a permanent NFT?
“Permanent NFT” is an informal description, not a guarantee. It usually refers to a collectible whose content and history are preserved on a blockchain rather than relying only on a changeable external image URL. Always inspect the actual content and its dependencies.
How do Bitcoin Ordinals store digital art?
Ordinals inscriptions embed content in Bitcoin transactions and associate it with satoshis. A self-contained image inscription stores its image bytes on-chain. Some inscriptions reference other inscriptions or external resources, so not every inscription is a self-contained artwork.
Can an inscription be edited or deleted?
A confirmed inscription’s original transaction data is not edited through a gallery account. A reinscription adds another inscription rather than rewriting the original. Bitcoin history is secured by consensus and proof of work, not an absolute mathematical promise against every possible reorganization or failure.
Will an NFT or crypto artwork last forever?
No service can guarantee literal forever. Long-term access depends on preservation of Bitcoin’s historical data, software able to interpret the content and any dependencies the artwork uses. Wallet access, copyright and the availability of a specific website are separate issues.
Is a free BitmapAds placement also stored on Bitcoin?
No. A free web placement, its text, destination link and position are off-chain platform data. A selected Ordinals artwork may already exist on Bitcoin. The two should not be confused, and the map position can be replaced under the Beta rules.
Does BitmapAds show the original file?
The map serves lightweight, locally cached static previews. A preview may be resized or show one frame of an animation. It is a viewing copy, not a replacement for the original inscription or a promise to reproduce interactive behavior.
How can I explore or display inscription art?
Open the Bitmap map, select an available area and choose Publish my Ads. During Beta, a free rectangle may be up to 21 × 21 bitmaps. Enter a supported image inscription number, preview, then publish. Read the current rules before using the separate Bitcoin inscription publication flow.
